Sugaring is performed using a thick paste consisting of sugar, lemon, herbs and water. The ball of paste is applied by hand and molded against the natural direction of hair growth. Then, with a quick flick of the wrist, the sugar is removed in the direction of growth, taking the entire hair and root with it. The same ball of sugar paste is used over and over again until the undesired hair has been removed.
FAQ
Though not painless, Sugaring tends to be considerably less painful than waxing because the paste does not adhere to live skin and is removed in the direction of growth to reduce the occurrence of ingrown hairs. Removing the hair in the direction of growth has another advantage: there is little to no hair breakage resulting in longer-lasting results.
We recommend your hair being at least 1/4 of an inch for optimal hair removal. For most people this is usually around 2 weeks of growth.
Your consultant will be pleased to discuss free of charge and without obligation, a program of treatments to meet your specific needs. We recommend to follow our maintenance program, which triggers your hair growth cycle to create less hair growth. Maintenance appointments are available after your first visit, when booking the next appointment within 4 weeks of your initial visit.
Your first 3 appointments are the most important. If you are planning to use Body Sugaring to soften or reduce hair, it is important that your first 3 Sugaring sessions be booked fairly close together. These are your most important bookings as they will quickly reduce the amount of overall hair and soften coarse, stubborn hair. For best results, begin booking your treatments 6 to 9 months prior to the date that you would like to see optimal results, for example a vacation; a wedding date; the summer season. Regular Sugaring treatments result in a less painful, more thorough removal of hairs, and allows for slower growth of hair which can, in some cases, lead to permanent reduction.
Unfortunately no. If you are using Retin-A or any other topical cream for acne on your face we would not be able to sugar anywhere on your face. However ….It is still ok to get any other areas done. If you are on Accutane or have been on Accutane in the last six months we cannot sugar you at all. We are happy to quote you a price for tweezing your brows. It is not recommended to have any areas sugared or waxed when on Accutane as the drug shuts off all of your oil glands. This can cause SEVERE lifting of the skin that could damage and scar the skin.
Please do not use a razor or depilatory creams between appointments as this will interfere with your goal to refine and diminish your hair growth and to have smooth skin. Regularly hydrating and exfoliating your skin between Sugaring treatments is just as important as receiving treatment. You will receive the best results if your skin is healthy.
Yes, you can. However you must have a parent/guardian with you to sign a waver and that parent/guardian must stay on the premises throughout the service.
